I have a 1996 Tahoe 4.3 4X. The engine stalls and I get no Check Engine light. I changed the fuel filter and it ran good for 5 days the it started againl today. Any one have an idea. It's my sons car for school, he's using my dd, which means I use the Vette and put on 100+ miles every day for work. Any Ideas? HELP
Does it start again immediately? If not try smacking the bottom of the gas tank with a rubber hammer while cranking it, the fuel pump might be on it's way out.
Same thing happened in my GM truck. Fuel pump hummed loudly. Started, ran for a few minutes & died. Changed it out ($350+ from GM Parts Direct ) and all is well.
I also have a customer with a 95 4x4 Blazer that had a similar issue and it turned out to be vacuum leaks: Main line out bottom/back of the intake, to the actuator under the battery tray, and some other line. He does a lot of offroad and we are actually on the second fuel pump replacement in about 100k miles since he has had it.
I'm going to have to do the fuel pump. By the way, 214000 miles, second fuel pump. Everything else is original, even the spark plugs. Engine runs smooth and the plugs show minimun wear.
