Autozone has and will let you "borrow" the priming tool.......for those that don't know how it works...pay for the tool, use it, bring it back and they will credit your account.
Simple. Saves on buying all sorts of stuff you only need one.

My moms brother (my uncle) bless his departed soul.... was named George (Breyer). George was stoopid.

Am I in trouble now? LOL

PS- I have several of the commercial primers... and several old distributors. They all prime fine.

The little Moroso primer will prime the oil pump and the main feed line, but won't fill all the lifters. You need the part of the distributor that seals at the bottom to get oil to the other side. It took about 5-10 minutes before oil came out all 16 rocker arms. I was able to get 40 psi with my 1/2" drill, too.
I've seen the good primers in catalogs, probably about $40. I paid $10 for a junk HEI, and it took half an hour to get it apart and make a tool I'll have forever, if I don't lend this one out.
Joe
PS, if you want a good price, visit the salvage yard don't just call.

How about just getting a good charge on the battery, pull the plugs, and crank the engine over a few times?

You rotating assembly will turn, defeating the purpose of priming....might as well keep the plugs in place and let it fire up
