Wiper Motor gone bad?

Wiper Motor gone bad?
On my '78, I washed down the engine compartment and now the wiper motor only works on occasion. There is a clicking noise going to the motor when I toggle the switch up\down and have power to the pink single wire going to the motor w\switch on. I also have power going to the middle wire in the three wire plug in connector. I believe the black single wire is a ground. Is there a correct way to jump around the controller module and switch to 'firewall test' the unit? 
Any help would be appreciated.

Had same problem
Just bought my my first vette 1980,drove it home in the rain,Pressured washed engine & now wipers do not work. Found middle wire has constant power with ignition on. Use a test light to ground out top wire with harness still attached if wipers move bad ground somewhere. Mine did not & found internal wiper motor contacts poorly made. I replaced motor & everything fine.advance auto 49. Napa 56. I had to go for the in stock napa one & had to use old plastic cover ,3 mounting rubbers & front dust boot since new one does not come with. Hope this helps

Thanks, I appreciate it. After 27 yrs, stuff is bound to go bad. I pretty much isolated the problem down to the motor too. One quick question tho, the pink wire running thru the cover into a resistor, is that the lead for you intermittant wipers?
