79 dash ground

79 dash ground

I am having problem with the tail/stop/gauge lights out. I can't find the ground for the dash, The shop manaul says near drivers hinge above courtisy lamp. I cant find it, does anyone have a better location discription.......

Fuses are good so i am starting to look at the headlight switch,all but the brake lite go through it. I'll let you know what I find..

On my 77 it is near the drivers door hinge behind the kick panel.

It's not supposed to be visible from the occupant area.

I suffer from a similar problem. However, I have located my problem area. It is where the white wire from the tail lights enters into the harmonica connector at the steering column. A slight wiggle and they start working again.

If the ground isn't your problem, I suggest you look at the wiring in and out of the harmonica connector. With the exception of the headlights, all of your exterior lighting travels into the steering column to the turn signal cam and then back out.
