I am having problem with the tail/stop/gauge lights out. I can't find the ground for the dash, The shop manaul says near drivers hinge above courtisy lamp. I cant find it, does anyone have a better location discription.......

I hope someone can answer this,I am having the similar problem with my '78.. also looked for the ground and was unable to find it...I am about to pull my gauges and dash out this weekend, will let you know if I find it..

I suffer from a similar problem. However, I have located my problem area. It is where the white wire from the tail lights enters into the harmonica connector at the steering column. A slight wiggle and they start working again.
If the ground isn't your problem, I suggest you look at the wiring in and out of the harmonica connector. With the exception of the headlights, all of your exterior lighting travels into the steering column to the turn signal cam and then back out.
