I had to replace the steering box, and of course the pitman arm has to be put back on. I am having trouble getting it to go all the way on, and I was wondering if for the Corvette it had to be pressed on. I spoke to someone in a machine shop and said that in general the arm should just go on, but it may be different for the Vette. Any advice will be helpful.
The steering box pitman arm is a snug fit and the nut(1-5/16)- is torqued to 150-180 ft/lbs. There are wider keyways every 90* for the arm to fit. The arm should be pointing straight with the box centered form lock to lock. The arm should the spline fit without effort.
