Default Looking for a part...

Maybe someone has some spare ones or can show me where to get them? It's the little black plastic cylinders where the terminals slide into and then are pushed on the door ajar warning switch. Anyone know anything about these?

Okay.. I see that they are included when you buy a new switch. This starts a few other questions:

I have a 71 coupe, the wiring harness that I bought new is exactly like the old one. Madvet.com says that these are the correct switches:
Courtesy + Key warning
Door ajar switch

There's no way those are the correct switches in the front of the door area... this has the be the correct switch because it's the only one that matches the front connectors from my new wiring harness:
Switch
As for the other switch, that might be the right one... but I don't know.

If the one directly above is in fact the correct switch, where does the black wire on the driver's side connect to if the white wire slides into the switch?

I have a feeling bubba glassed in a switch on my driver's side... is there supposed to be a switch in door area towards the tail lamps on the driver's side? (I only ask this because there are wires that go to that side, a gromet that would lead to a switch, and the passenger side has a switch located there)

Which ones are the alarm switches and which ones are the courtesy / key warning switches?!

Can someone at least shed a bit of light on things here?

Thanks,
Michael

All pictures and information on switches that I'm talking about can be found here:

Maybe this will help explain my situation....
Here's what my harness connectors look like:

They are supposed to fit into this (which is at the front of the door jamb) somehow:

That is why I believe this is the correct switch (but this still doesn't explain where the black connector goes):

I have no discrepancies with the harness connection / fitting on the rear switches, I just want to know which switch I would need to buy to replace them.

There then comes a problem with this... the passenger side has the rear switch and the driver's side doesn't:

The 2 connectors in your top picture go into the white plastic of the switch in the next picture. They just slip into the plastic are held by the pressure of the connectors only. When the door is open the switch is closed and it makes contact between the white and black wires.

The switch on the rear is for your alarm system, thr front one works the lights. Maybe the panel was replaced and someone didn't think the alarm was worth hooking up again, or maybe they figured the criminals would only enter on the passenger side...

Actualy I have both and I don't have an alarm. On my 70 the front switches do the lights and the rear switches go to a "door ajar" light on the dash.

The PO removed the light from the dash as he was too lazy too fix the switches!

Just finished doing all of mine on a 72, so lets try this.
First...the wireing harness connection for the switches is wrong. They should be very small brass terminals that slide & lock into the rear white nylon portion of the switch. Terminals crimp onto the wire ends and lock into the nylon with just the ends protruding to make contact with the switch. Both white and black wires go into seperate slots in that nylon portion.
The switch your holding in your hand (and first two pics) is correct in 71 for the courtesy lights.(forward door jamb) and the shorter version for the door ajar. (rear jamb) The switch with a bayonet style connection is not correct for your year. Yeah...Bubba must have glassed over one of the mounting holes.
Those small brass terminals are available from most catalog vendors for about $6.00 for 5-6 of them.
Eddie
P.S. Just checked for you....pics of the parts in question are on page 101 of Paragons web catalog.
AND...here's the door ajar switches you need

Well, the wiring harness connections for the alarm switches are correct - there are red, blue, and black wires with a small brass terminal each. Guess I have to fix the driver's side alarm switch since it's glassed up.

As for the door ajar / courtesy lamp switches, are you sure they take the brass terminals also? You would think that the people over at Lectric Limited would make the connectors to factory specifications... it's very hard for me to believe that the actual harness is incorrect. Does anyone have a 71 and can confirm this?

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate it very much!
