I got a 74 Vette, and was wondering what my options are as far as the mufflers. I want it to retain the stock look but I want some rumble out of my exhaust! Thanks for any advice.
i'm going through the same thing. i'm not worried about stock appearance but i want some new performance mufflers. I believe Dynomax has some super turbo mufflers that look original but they might not be loud enough for you. My friend suggested some Hooker aero chambers so i'm gonna check those out.
Well I found some Summit headers for 86 bucks, so I'm going to order those first! As far as the mufflers though I'm still stuck on what to get for those!
The Dynomax Corvette SB Cerama-Coat headers fit & flow great, much better than is commonly known. Have been rec. them & many have them now. Dynomax Super Turbos mufflers work excellent.
The super turbos seem to have received very good feedback here on the forum. I have stainless borla mufflers that as per the catalogs are for a C4, these are pretty loud...
you say you want a stock look but you ordered headers ? Hmmmm.... get the long tubes, true duals and Dynomax mufflers and you'll be happy with the result/sound...

I was talking about making the mufflers look stock, cause you can pretty much slap any muffler on there and make it work but it will stick out far on the bottom side and I don't want that! I'll look into the Super Turbos and give them a try! Thanks for everything.

Do not...and I repeat...do not buy cheap headers. Not only will the performance suffer, but chances are you'll be unhappy with the fit and number of times you'll be replacing header gaskets. Plus, the rust looks pretty fugly on those tubes after a couple of seasons. If your going through the hassle of a changeover, buy the BEST you can afford, you'll never regret it
