Has anyone replaced the HVAC thumb wheels? I have a '73 and don't want to oops anything I don't have to. The only thing shown in my Assembly Manual is a picture of the whole control assembly. I allready have the cventer console apart. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

I have had mine disassembled - cleanup and reassembled it. What is your Q about the system?
When you buy the new thumb control system, it comes with VERY informative directions.. I just replaced mine last weekend... it's a very easy fix - basically a 30 min to 1 hour job!
When taking yours apart.. make sure you don't lose the springs that activate the switches - they are very small and a very critical part of the thumbwheel system!!! Also, remember how far the red dot goes on each extreme (up and down) and the placement of your wheels at those positions.
That about sums it up...

Thanks for the tips. I received the the wheels only, not part of a kit. No instructions were included. Do you still have the instructions? Can you scan and email? If so, send me a PM and I'll give you my email address.
It is one of the first things I trashed and put in an aluminum plate with switches and just got over it...much more compact for more varied and better controls, even cruise controll, and tranny controll, and so forth....
if you not electrical by nature, don't bother...but it's really simple to a geek....
