Hi, I'd like to replace all my vaccuum lines to dress up the engine compartment on my 1979 L48. Are there color coded lines? Something perkier then black. Also does someone know all the different sizes and maybe how much of each. I know that's a lot to ask but tried to get it done in one post. Thanks, Joe.

The hoses I bought were black with a colored stripe down the hose. Each stripe ran the entire length of the hose and they came with a diagram that was colored the same color as the hose stripes. This made installation easier.
I do know that there are other hoses out there that are silicone and come in different colors that you could do the same thing with. Maybe someone will chime in with a link or some pictures.

the lines stock were black with a color tracer,,if you look on a vaccume diagram,,,the color for a hose is for a specific purpose..example--look in the assembly manual vaccume diagram for the vaccume of the actuators that control the heat/defrost outside air/recirculate air-------- those lines have different color tracers so if you plan on putting say all blue vaccume lines (say for show) your gonna have a tough time troubleshooting your vaccme systtem down the road,,,,, its like taking all the household wire outta the pipe runs and pulling all one color ---the colors mean something a way of knowing what wire does what--just like what vaccume line does what

I bought some silicone rubber tubing for the same reason. I used these for a while and discarded them. They just didn't hold up and colapsed after a short time.
I purchased a vacuum hose replacment kit from docrebuild: http://www.docrebuild.com/dr-r-web/DROOPY2.HTML
The drawing that came with the kit was a big help... The hoses were cut to length with correct colors.
I don't know if this stuff is available over there but I use Festo pressure hose and the adapters/fittings that come w/ it. It's a semi hard line that can be cut easily and routed nicely.
I don't have pics but here is a pic of the chevy truck of a buddy of mine, he has used it also (still hanging loose and all over the place)
