Default Adjusting seats?

I have a 1980 coupe, is there some kind of aftermarket kit to make the seat backs adjustable. They just lean against the back of the cargo area. My wife is 5'2" tall and when she adjust the seat forward she's leaning back so far she can't see out of the windshield. I on the other hand am 6'1" and would like to adjust the back up more when I have the seat back. Has anyone made a solution to this problem.

Thanks in advance,
The Iceman,
Keith

Ha Ha. I have a seat cushion I got at Walmart that I stuff between the drivers seat back/cargo area till I get around to fixing the seat frame(bottom) which welds have broke. But there are adjusters (2) that you can add washers to,but mine is beyond that.(78)

not sure how the 79+ seats adjust but it is a really crap adjustment on the 77's...just another example of GMs fine engineering ability....one size fits all approach....

There is a seat back shim set available to adjust the "leaning angle" of your seat ; I purchased mine from Zip Products, but they are available from most vette vendors. Basically just washer spacers to lift the seat back resting bolts.

One way is to get longer bolts for the rear of the seats. Get 1/2 inch pipe nipples one inch or longer and space the rear of the seat up until your desired height is achieved. Another way is to install studs in the floor long enough to do the same thing. Studs are easier to set the seats on and attach nuts to. Trying to get bolts started can sometimes be frustrating. The most expensive way is to buy electrically adjustable seats that fit the C3. Their are several that should work. Feiro seats work and I think Saturn seats will work. Of course, you will have to wire them.

Thanks for the replies, I like the idea of power seats but it's probably more than I want to do. Shims will work but I wanted something adjustable.

This style seat does not have ajusting bolts that you can add washers to, and adding spacers under the rear of the frame will take away your headroom. These seats have the molded back and bottom and where they meet is what stops the back from going back any farther. I added a spacer that goes between the back & bottom and this keeps the back from reclining too far. I tried different thicknesses put in loose to find the setting I liked, then I made a piece of pvc about 1" wide that matches the curve of the top of the bottom shell, the thickness to suit, mine is 7/16". I drilled verically thru spacer into bottom shell and secured it with flat head screws. Works great.

Checked their site, NO SHIM KIT for '79 and later. Can you give me a part number or were you just mistaken??

I hate tracking down bad info.

Yes, I did not take my medication today....
