81-82 rear spring

81-82 rear spring - will it work on a '77?
What's the spring rate of a stock 81-82 composite rear spring? Would it be a decent replacement for the old steel spring in my '77? I've thought about an aftermarket composite rear spring, but this looks like it might be a decent compromise.

Next questions - will it bolt in directly in place of my worn-out stock steel spring (1977)? Will it have the same fitment issues as the aftermarket springs?
Looking at the VBP catalog, they sell the same springs for 63-82, but have three sets when buying the spring and mounting kit - 63-77, 78-79, 80-82. What mounting hardware is different for those years?
