Cold start erratic idle
Last week I discovered that the hoses that on the large vacuum ports on the front and rear of the carb didn't fit properly. A quick hose clamp for a temp fix solved the problem. It also calmed down the shaking at idle when the engine is warm. It didn't solve the cold start problem.
When I start the car,it idles up to 2k, then down to 500 and almost dies. Then it revs itself back up to 2k and does it all over again. It will repeat this cycle until it either dies when it idles down, or I tap the gas pedal and take over.
The carb is an Edelbrock 600cfm with elec. choke. I know that the positive and negative wires to the choke provide 12v. I finally have the timing, a/f and idle set to a point that the car runs pretty good once warmed up. I just have to get past the cold start now.
