I have brand new Jet Hot coated big block Hooker headers and sidepipes sitting in my shop, along with JCL turbo baffles (yeah, yeah, I know, I need to take some pics ). I'm balking at drilling holes in the side pipes to mount the baffles. Has anyone come up with an alternative method of securing the baffles inside the pipes that doesn't involve drilling holes? I don't want to disrupt the coating, and honestly I just don't want to drill holes in my brand new pipes if I can help it. I am going to use the JCLs one way or the other though. Any Ideas? I was thinking of rigging some sort of adjustable expansion ring to friction fit the mounting tabs against the inner wall of the pipes, but haven't dreamed up the details to my satisfaction yet. Suggestions welcome
No two ways around it, quit being a wussy and break out the drill.
just drill the holes on the backside of the pipes so it doesn't show and make sure you've got the exact measurements. don't worry about the jethot coating, mine r jethot coated also, no damage, that stuff is on there forever. make sure you grease the header-sidepipe joint w/anti seize
