Engine Cut Out, Need Ideas?

Engine Cut Out, Need Ideas?
The last few days my motor has cut out for just a split second and the GEN light wil com on and then it goes back to normal, I even see the tach drop. This literally is a split second.
This afternoon I was turning onto a main highway and shifting into second gear when it did it and it chirped the tires. About a mile late I pulled into the median to turn into my neighborhood and the motor died it would turn over but it was like it was not getting fuel and did not want to fire up. I finally held the gas pedal down while turning the ignition and it started but I had to keep pumping the gas to get it to idle. I was able to drive it normally after that to my house

Any Ideas on where to start looking for what might be the problem?
These Gremlins drive me crazy!
