The speedo and tach are not electrical gauges, they are both cable driven mechanical. The clock is electrical but driven by a non-switched 12V source.

The gas gauge and ammeter are electrical but are driven by seperate non-fused circuits.

The only thing in common for all these things and your washer is the ground (earth) to complete the circuit.

I had a simnilar issue when I first got mine. The PO had changed the radio and did not ground the cluster plate. Everything still worked but not correctly because they were backfeeding thruogh the light circut.
In your case, the speedo and tach not working is totally unrelated because they are not electric unless someone changed them out.

Thanks. I have to go over the ground then.

The complete history:
Had a brake in in my car where they stole my stereo. And made quite a mess of my wiring behind the center beezel. After this my gauges worked only sometimes. I now have bought a new radio new center beezel and a clock (witch i never have had in my car.) I have gone true the wiring and removed all the cables for the stereo. (not conected the new one) and moved all the gauges over to the new beezel. and conected them to the cables. All the wiring no looks werry clean, and i am sure every gauge is corectly atached. But noe the washer do not work as it did before. I cant see what i can have done wrong. Is grond going true the stereo in any way??

Thank for the help.

I am sorry the spedo and the tach is working. (just my bad inglish, not my first language.) Sound like my problem most be the same as you have experiensed.
I had a brake in in my car. And had to change the radio. ceter beezel and i bought a new clock.
The new radio does not fit the original wiring. Have I in some way ungrounded the cluster by doing this. And could this be the reason for both the washer and gauges male function. Is the groung going true the radio?????
I have not conected the new radio. since i wanted to fix the gauges and the washer first. And the i planned to pull up new wiring for the radio directly from the batery. But otherwise from the radio everything looks like it is corectly conected. I have gone tru this twice. And the color code on the wiring matches that behind "beezel back plate" The wiring for the stereo was a totaly mess after the brake in. So i youst had to remove it. I did not se a problem w\ this. since it did not fit the new one anyway.
