Dep The good ol power hungry heavy TH-400 has put this car through 150,000 miles and 70 passes at the strip without missing a beat (OK, so I have only owned it for 30,000 of these miles so who knows before then..).

I made 10 runs in an hour and a half so it gets a little hot with the loose converter I am running. My last run that day had the tranny temps at 250F at the cooler inlet going through the traps... I run RedLine High Temp ATF which will not burnish even near 400F.

Wayne If I remember correctly the Super Turbos only flow 450cfm, the Ultraflo flows 1100cfm. Good Luck, the Super Turbos do sound good.

Oliver Yeah I can't say I am real comfortable about it either, but it hasn't been a problem so far. At the start of last season I tried hot-lapping 3 runs and the guage was pegged past 260F through the traps, I just let it cool down, and I have made 70 passes since.

Now if it was a 200R4 I would be more concerned!

Okay...thought maybe a stick.
The search goes on for someone with a stock rear end that can hold up to popping the clutch
The Turbo 400 is one heavy duty unit. You should have no worries.

Dep I think the key is to pre-load the rear end, the "shocking" is what kills them. I guess a TH400 would be too hard to run for your little 302 so manual is probably the way to go...

Great runs!! What were times before?

The DragVette setup eliminates the camber change through the suspensions travel. Good stuff!!

Congratulations..that is one sweet smallblock you have there!!

Jim Last weekend I ran an 11.74 @ 116 on street tires, but the air was better and I had 80lbs less fuel.

Last year when I didn't have the DragVette kit my 60's were all over the place and traction was inconsitent. I have ran better than last year's best (11.97) on almost every run.

Very consistent ETs, expecially on such a small slick!

Wow! An 11.74 on street tires is awesome! I'm glad to hear that all you've had to change (for strength) were the joints and half shafts. I don't think it'll cost me too much to replace them. I'm hoping to be running with you before too much longer and I'm glad I won't need all that expensive Tom's stuff. Glad your new parts are working well and that you are now consistant. Now you can really measure the difference if you make any other changes.

One of the ways to help these Vette rears live would be to move to a slipper style sintered iron clutch. Lots of Mustang guys use them and they work fairly well in street use. I think that will be my next move. It will take some work, but it will likely smooth out launches and save parts.

The idea is to come out HARD...like 6000+ rpm....NO DEAD HOOKING!! You want it to spin about 1-2 truns on the launch. Adjust air pressure and rpms to make it work. Let clutch slip a little through 1st gear and on the shifts.

Obviously not normal street stuff..but hey...it's another option that can help!

Very consistant runs. I am also running the Drag Vette set up but I am not hooking up as good as you.

Glensgages See, that reaction thing may get me... When I was paying attention the lights weren't bad, had a couple .016's, a -.010, a .007, and some others in the .020-.050 range.

litevette Thanks, I need to make the car a little "lite-er" now.

ZL1powr I think I have a pretty good idea why your not hooking up...
655 ft-lbs
Time for some bigger tires.

Get a practice tree instead:
rest-assured, the 'hitters' on Pro ET have them already.

With consistent Elapsed Times, it'll pay for itself in a short period of time.

Get some ET Street 28 x 13.5 x 15's and you'll hook!! That's what I'm using and I even hook on a track that wasn't sprayed...

So you got 2200CFM going out and about 750CFM going in

THose numbers are for the 2.5 inch I am getting the 3 inch and also the only Super Turbos with 3 inch internal pipes, the rest of them have 2.5 inch internal pipes, go figure. I will see how I like them, probably end up cutting them off too

I hit 210 degrees after 4 passes on Saturday... Not a problem.. but at least I wasn't at 250 degrees
The TH200R4 is holding up good so far.. Except the governor problem, I had no issues so far... I still got to work on that shift point...

OK Wayne, I'll try not to leave room in my response for a psuedo funny remark this time...

They say you want (~2.2 x horsepower) cfm exhaust flow, so if your making 500hp you want at least 1100cfm.
2 of the 3" may get you there.
I personally like the ultra-flo as it has a raspier sound than the super turbo.

Its your money.

Boodyman: The Camaro ran a 10.424 @ 103.51, it is a Super Pro ET car, race only.

OK no funny ( to me anyway ) remark this time, I am looking for something a little quieter this time and then I am still getting the electric cutouts for those special occasions
