I broke my trans and when I went to the mechanic he told me that I burned the high gear clutches he said that I had a leak but I didnt see any and the fluid level was ok and it had new fluid in it. what caused the clutches to burn?
What is the proper way to break in a transmission?
If an auto shifts through all the gears..you pretty much just broke it in. No need for break in like a motor.
I don't see how a clutch pack burned out. Was it new? Did it shift OK before that? Usually you can have issues with modulators messing up or something causing low pressure...did it ever run low on fluid????
T-350's aren't sensitive to stuff like a 700R4 is. No TV cable etc.
I had the transmission in the car for a week, it a had firm shift to it (chirped the tires every time it shifted gears) installed it on monday and next week monday during my cruising time it started to make a horoble noise when the transmission wanted to shift and it would not shift properly
The leak your mech is talking about is a leak in the third gear clutch apply circuit. It was apparantly shifting ok, but loosing hold in pressure allowing the clutches to slip. Suspect parts are apply piston seal and/or shaft seal rings.
I'm getting my tran's back this friday I can't wait to get my car on the road, if it was an internal leak how can I check for one I don't want the same thing to happen again
I have a 6 month (like 5 now)warranty on it I should have the car back this friday, I checked the fluid before and after the problem and the fluid was ok and no spots on my driveway
