I was a little surprised that no one answered your question, expecially because for some it would be very easy to answer. Anyhow, I went out and unscrewed one of the bolts in the crossmember you asked about. The bolts are 7/16 NC 14. This means the bolt thread diameter is 7/16 and the bolt is a "course" bolt with 14 threads per inch. Using my caliper, the threaded portion of the bolt is 1.25 inches. So I think you want to order 1 1/4 inch 7/16 NC 14 bolts. You also should order a lock washer and a plane washer. Socket size: Even though the treads are 7/16 inch, you will need a 5/8 inch socket to tighten the bolts.
This English/metric thing really annoys me. Up until 1975 (or so) probably 80% of all the nuts and bolts ever made by mankind were "English" threads. I wonder if we've had to go through this grief of changing nut/bolt standards because the basic measuring system was labelled "English."
Anyhow, I have a lot of metric tools. For the tool manfacturers it's a good business because people like me have to buy two tool sets instead of one.
