Default what next? exhaust problem.

I had true duels put on today. Thinking I had a bad exhaust dounut too.No, I have cracked exhaust manifold. What would you do? Headers? Long or short? My shop says short easier to hook up to new exhaust. What brands, what part numbers? I have a stock l48 4spd 3.08s Thanks

Most people will tell you to put on headers, but I'm not most people. I got some 2.5" cast iron manifolds from rockauto.com. They also sell stock 2" manifolds for about half the price of the vette shops. If you plan on keeping the rest of your motor stock, headers won't be worth the trouble. Joe

I'll be one of the guys who says go with full length headers. There are a lot of choices depending on quality, price, and performance. I would say try a set with smaller primaries like 1 5/8th inch and your motor will pick up a few HP, and even some MPG. I have not had any trouble with my headers. I have owned Hookers, and Doug Thorley. No problems with exhaust leaks or heat with either of these. Shorties are nice when space is tight, but there are full length headers to fit pretty much any C3.

i have headers and a souped up engine.....if i had a stock or mildy hot engine i would consider those 2.5" cast iron manifolds into 2.5 true duals.

this is where the longer headers wind up

Oh, I see...all of the full length left headers end up all smashed up from underneath. Bull****. Don't take speedbumps at 30 mph and your headers won't end up looking like that...btw...that's not even a header...it's the pipe.

Yeah, you are right. I think I misinterpreted the response. I apologize Bob.
