the bottom cushion just clips in place, pick up on the back of the lower cushion where it meets the backrest. pull straight up then slide it back a little, it comes right out. at least mine do. I had the same problem

Can I just remove the lower cushion, or would I have to remove the whole seat?

What bolts do I need to remove without tearing anything up?

thanks
You can remove the whole seat by removing four bolts.
