Default Distributor Question - Easy one

I replaced the distributor with a new one and I have the new one all the way down but it continues to be able to rotate even though I have the little C-bracket up against it and bolted down tight. Am I missing something?
Take a look at the base of the shaft in this pic. It is flush at the bottom but not on the sides of the circumference. It has an 1/8 inch of play before it comes up against the side.

Can someone check their disti. and see if they have that play as well.?
The red that you see in the pic is the old gasket from the old disti so I am thinking that this Reman is not the same shaft size???

Are the clamping flanges the same thickness. You may need to bend the clamp to make it tighter.

did you remember to put your camshaft back in? Kidding...make sure, absolutley sure it is seated before you clamp it. It could be 1/8 to 1/4" left to seat and appear seated, yet not be totally seated! Does that make sense? Make sure that ring on the distributor shaft housing (where the clamp holds down) is not setting up just a bit and not seated and flush on the intake manifold. My only guess... hope it helps
