Default mostly disassembled - HEI - need help

I followed instructions on http://members.shaw.ca/crussel/hei/HEIrebuild.html and am to the part now where the weights and springs are removed, the little top piece is pryed off. I just can't get the rotor to slide off of the shaft. Won't budge. Any suggestions? it is soaking with WD-40 right now.

Thanks, Jeremy

I just did this procedure the other day, and it came apart okay. So I can't help you but I thought I'd at least bump it to the top...

thanks for the reply. I just went out and gave it another try. Ended up holding just above the points of the rotor and whacked it against the concrete floor. 2 or 3 of them and it came loose. There was some nasty sludge in there.

THanks anyway.

At least this justifies your efforts. I pulled off my front hub this weekend to check the wheel bearings and found them to be fairly new and coated in synthetic grease.

The parts shop I was going to use was closed today but I am going to do the weights and springs to recurve it. So I just freed it up, lubricated it and put it back together. I have it timed now at about 16* initial - vac disconnected. It goes to about 36 or more when the vac advance is connected. runs better from what I can tell already. Didn't really give her the old test-a-roo since the wife was with me on my test drive. I hope to get the new springs and weights and timed perfect using Lars' papers next saturday with the STL Sharks. I can tell now that the timing before was way off since it was stuck "advanced".
