Tail light mounting
I'm trying to install my tail lights into a tru flex rear bumper for a 1975. The directions say to not use the original mounting plates but mount the lights directly to the bumper. The only way I see to do this is to make square holes in the bumper for the original plastic lense spacers to sit in. If I do this then the two mounting screws will go into the spacers and clamp the light. Is this the correct way to install the lights?

I put the True Flex rear bumper on my father's 75 about a month ago. I used the original steel retaining rings, one on the back side of the bumper and one on the front just like on the original bumper. I had to drill some holes in the dimples of the fiberglass bumper to allow the screws and the longer white post of the plastic housing to pass through the fiberglass but that was it.

I also used the original mounting rings, but not the big angle brackets that were needed for the urethane bumper. Maybe the instructions meant to say not to use the brackets.
