It looks like my rear spring question was answered to my satisfaction. I'm going to try & turn it around to see what happens. But if I find I do need a new rear spring, what rate do I want? I see in the composites they come in rates from 300# all the way up to 450#. ????????
I'm happy with the way my car handles & rides, so I'd like to NOT over spring it. Anyone know what the closest to stock rating would be? Again, it's a '73, 454, auto.

Thanks some more,

VBP says their 330 spring is close to "stock" replacment. they don't recommend going more than 360 for "street" use. say the ride is too harsh. i find the fiberglass spring to be a little "bouncy" compared to steel but MUCH more responsive in turns. matching the shock to the spring is important with composite springs. so be sure to consult whoever you buy yours from for recommendations on rear shocks. hope this helps.

I have a 550 lbs/inch VBP spring in mine... It's tight, but still not unconfortable... After all.. it's a sports car

Thank you. I don't know why I couldn't find that little tidbit. I was all over their web site, but not into their catalog.
And GSC3,
My other Corvette in an '86 Z51. THAT'S my truck-ride. The '73 is an oh-so-plush ride in comparison. I don't want to give up the cushy ride in this one. But I'm glad to hear that you can run such a high rate and still not knock your teeth out on small bumps. That's good information in case I do need to move up for some reason.
You should look to see how many leafs your spring now has and you can easily cross referrence it to a fiberglass spring. You'll loose 28 lbs plus have a nice ride in my opinion. A new glass spring w/the right shocks and you'll be in love all over again.
