Distributor Cap Problem

Default Distributor Cap Problem

Just got a new distributor and installed it. Cranked it up and ran fine but i heard a ticking noisr and couldn't figure out what it was turned car off and checked rotor cap pulled off the spark plugs and then noticed that 4 of the 8 buttons had come off and were stuck in the spark plug wires. this is a 50,000 volt distributor could it have melted the copper buttons or did i do something wrong?

I will just curious as to what could have been the cause too much voltage or defective brass caps?

no way too much voltage.....has to have missed a manufacturing process....
