Default Window Motor

My wife just recently bought me a 79 to rebuild, the thing is the passenger side door was torn apart and missing the window motor. I bought the new motor and geer but the gears miss each other by 1/8". I been to dealers, auto part stores and so called corvette specialist to no avail. I can fix and build anything but this one has me perplexed. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Did you get the gear assembly and motor from the same vendor at the same time? I bought mine from Volunteer Vette and the worked fine.

Both parts are from the same. I took the drivers door apart and compared, they are polar opposites. I don't get it, the main gear and the motor gear are on the same bracket with no way for adjustments. The door is the original as far as I can tell. I have like 3 days of time in this and still getting no where

The only thing I can think of is that you have gotten the motor mounted in a wrong hole. I don't know how that could happen but you might check it. Did the control arm have a bolt in holding tension until the motor was installed? It is supposed to be removed after the motor is attached. I am grasping at straws here. I will look at my old one when I get home to see if I can see anything to cause this problem.

The entire regulator assembley is the same from 68 to 82-3. I have had this thing apart couple dozen times, I pulled the glass, I switched the gears with the drivers door, I have said many expleditives. It's like they fell short and threw in one from a different car. I even checked that and the same regulator is used in the same year camaro.

I got my old parts out of the boxes the new ones came in, they are still good, and I can't see how they could possibly be installed wrong. The three prongs on the motor that the bolts go thru have machined surfaces that fit thru the matching holes on the window gear assembly which align the motor gear to the window assembly. If the machined surfaces haven't passed thru the three holes completely, then that could have thrown off the alignment. Or the gears ar not the right size. Not having the old parts to compare to is a bummer. Other than that I would suggest that you send them back. You could use my old ones but they are out of the left door. One other option is to take them to a dealer to see if they would look at it for you. I'm sorry I can't add more insight to your problem.

There is some nipples and pins that line everything up. That is the frustrating part. Thanks for your input.
