Hard to get into Reverse

About half the time the car won't go into reverse to where I can get the keys out. I have tried shifting into 2nd then reverse but still doesn't fully engage to where I can get the keys out. Sometimes it takes a bit of force. Clutch is fully depressed and lockout is pulled completely up when I am trying to get it into reverse. Any ideas?

Is this a linkage problem or a synchronizer problem? Thx

If you can't go straight into reverse from a forward gear, try running it through the gears a few times...it says to do that in my '79 manual.

I have been just trying 2nd then Rev, will run her thru 1/2/3/4 then Rev, will give it a try when it happens next time. Thx.
