Electrical Help
Have a 74 LS4 Coupe. Went to start car and found a dead battery. I pulled all fuses and still had a 5 amp draw. I unplugged the alternator and the draw went away. Where to look for the draw ? I replaced the starter about 2 months ago with a mini starter but have driven it several times since with no problems. The last time I drove it, the radio cut off/on a few times. Can a alternator have a short in it? If the A/C switch is off with the key out, I still have power to the computer which I assume turns on the O2 sensor. If I turn the A/C switch on with the key out, the power to the computer turns off. I can also turn the fan switch on high and the power to the computer is on again. Driving me nuts as to where to continue the search for the draw. Any ideas on where to look next.

I just had to replace the alt. on my motor home for exactly what you describe (although it doesn't have a mini starter). Changed the alt. no more problems now it can sit for 2 months that I know of and will crank right up. Before in two days it was dead as a door nail.
