Either an X or an H pipe will these will help your exhuast.

Reason: misspelling
My Duals were routed by Bubba in approximately the stock location, sorry no pictures... I'm planning on installing an H pipe in the not too far distant future...
ok if no one has pictures can you tell me how they were run? are they run side by side on the passengers side? do you modify the crossmember? it looks pretty tight under there for 2 sets of pipes. help, my headers are ordered, I have a shop that can custom bend the pipes, thanks

bow tie overdrives....they specialize in kits for putting newer overdrive transmissions into older cars/hot rods, so when i did the trans swap to the 700r4 (4spd o/d) i ditched my old crossmember and got a new tubular one from them....
That looks nice Bob but that's not going to work for him since he still has the TH350C in there. You need to route it down off the manifolds, and do like a 70 degree bend over to the passenger side then back past the tranny, then some more swooping bends right before the mufflers to be stock. I don't think I have any pictures of the whole thing. My neighbor with his 79 just ran duals straight out the back after the cats, no muffler and the thing is still too quiet for me. I am going to let a custom exhaust shop figure out my new setup because I am going to use electric dumps and and X pipe and it will need to be really planned out. The funny part is, I am going to have to drive the car to them with open headers to get the work done, that should be loud.
I would search the forums, I have seen pictures of 81 true dual setups in here before.
You first need to either buy or modify your cross member.
Transmisions last longer without lots of heat. The cross member on my 79 came with dual holes in the cross member but they are way to close to the tranny. Especially if you have a big pan like the 700R4 on Bobs77Vette.
Anyway my modified cross member allows the pipes to come straight back from the headers. They go back straight with only a slight bend in each to bring them close together under the pumpkin. Where they bend back out to two three inch in and out race stainless packed mufflers in the near stock location.
I hope Motorhead does'nt mind, but I have Printed a picture of his exaust to take to the shop along with my new Magnaflow's next week, just for a reference for my '80 install. Thanks
