When installing a new header bar, what should the distance be between the front edge of the bar and the small raised ridge on the headlight cut-out? Looking at the rust stains on my fiberglass, it appears that the bar should be right up against the ridge, but I wanted to be sure before gluing it in permanently. My old header bar had rusted badly and had detached completely from the fiberglass so I couldn't use it as pattern.
When did mine last year it went right flush against that "ridge", in fact I had to grind a little bit of the material off. I'm pretty sure the replacement bar I bought wasn't *exactly* the same size as the original so I put my headlight frames back in temporarily to line up the bolt holes.
Mine was set back about 1/4" or maybe slightly more.
It isn't terribly important, as the rear of the headlight housing
has a good amount of fore-aft adjustment. The two outer bolts are slots.
Here is a pic of my alignment: http://nhvette.homeunix.com/ftp/_pic...nosedone_2.jpg
The adhesive squished out about 1/4" bead ... you can see the edge of the black header bar.
I'll try and check tonight - measurements.
BTW - headlights now installed OK.
