Default Installing BG choke - HELP!! WTFO??!!

This should be a 20 minute procedure but pictures in the instructions are so bad I cannot make out how the spring combo is supposed to go on

Click on instructions here at http://barrygrant.com/fromBarryGrant...structions.pdf

Page 2 instruction #8 figures 8,9,10. In figure 8 it shows the clip with the spring but my spring is opposite of what I see in the picture.

Has anyone done this or can anyone blow or clarify any of the pictures in that document becuase I blew it up to 300% and it was so bad I could barely make out the carb much less a thin spring. Oh yeah the paper instructions mirrors this but it looks like it was xeroxed 4th generation and completely unreadable.

Thanks,
David

Had the same problem with those directions- couldn't read them.

Couldn't Barry Grant charge another $1.00 for the carburetor and put a legible set of instructions in the box so we could read the GD thing?

if this helps, the head of the adjusting screw for the fast idle is right next to the secondaries transition slot adjusting screw....and it is almost impossible to adjust

Just got off the horn with James from the BG Tech line. Both the instructions are written wrong and the pictures are wrong. The spring is actually trying to push the choke idle speed screw counterclockwise away from the choke's hi-speed idle cam. So in effect as the inner spring heats up as the car warms up and expands the cam slips out from under the speed screw or if you blip the throttle the primaries will turn counterclockwise dropping the speed screw off the hi-speed cam. What bothers me is:
Note: If the fast idle cam is not resting on the
choke idle speed screw in the deepest slot, a slight
bend to lenghten the choke linkage will correct
that problem. It is best to do this with pod removed.
Bend the link on the long leg near the 90°
as to not break the link.
(quality control?)

if either of you have some pics you can post of the spring in it's setup and how the idle speed screw connects to the hi-speed cam it would greatly help.

I installed it, it has power and cycles but I have no idea why the cam doens't contact the idle speed screw no matter how I screw it in or out. f-it!!! I give up. Maybe someday somebody local can help me with it but for now it's a waste of money and 2 days time.

Got it running right today. Had to fabricate a correct return spring for the choke idle speed screw a teflon bushing for the primary thottle shaft on the choke side. then when i started it the car was belching clouds of black smoke becuase the choke tower was making it over rich. I removed it and the condition went away. So after trying drilling air holes in he choke plate I just decided to pull the choke tower and all the linkage off using a small metal screw as a arm to pull up the the plastic cam. Unfortunetly i had already Dremel cut my lower air cleaner lid to fit around the choke tower linkage so I ruined a original drop base lid for nothing (read duct tape over the hole). Oh well it kicks on at 1400rpm and turns off after 2 minutes to 800rpm so it works, well with alot of modification it finally works.
