Default front springs

I 've just completed rebuilding the front suspension on my 77.I made the mistake of using the springs that i took out, and now that everything is back together one side sits about 3/4 of an inch higher than the other. Any suggestions on replacement springs? I mainly just cruise and would like to keep a comfortable ride, as our roads in Michigan are rough , something to go with the 330# fiberglass spring on the rear Any ideas would help

Check to be sure you have the spring seated correctly. The original springs were 2 stage springs with tighter coils on the top?Don't remember now? You might just need to adjust them.

Just installed VB & P 460 springs in my 73, I really didn't feel any harsh differance and also using Bilstien shocks..... I'm in the process of cutting the springs down for a lower stance in the front.....

Last I spoke to Artie at Van Steel, he had a preferred SB spring in his inventory. Not sure on cost per side. I know mine rides a little high in the front (per Artie's feedback after repairs they made) which affects road manners (a little light in the steering).

how much do you need to trim off the coil to get the correct ride height?

I just bought a set of 550 lb. springs from VBP along with a set of 8" bolts and poly bushings for the rear spring. I haven't installed them yet
but they say it lowers the car by 1-1/2". I'm going to start my much needed front end rebuild in a few weeks so I won't know until then how the ride will be. They say the ride is much firmer than with the originals and the handling is supposed to be much better, especially cornering with the car. I'm still undecided on which shocks to go with with the new springs, so if anyone has any preference of one over the other with the 550 lb. springs I'd like to know. I don't mind a firmer ride but I don't want it ride like a truck either.

I'd suggest the 550lbs springs- they are not as harsh as you may think, they work great with the Bilstein shocks... call VanSteel or VBP.....

I just started my front end rebuild as well. Everything is out. I need to clean the A Arms and then start the reinstall. I ordered the 550# springs and Bilstein Shocks from Van Steel. I'll let you know how it looks and rides in a few weeks.

I agree with the thread above, check your seats on your springs. you need to have the tighter coils up and make sure the end of the spring is about 1/16" from the drain in the lower a-arm. Should be about the same on the top as well. Seems to me that if it rode level before, it should again after the rebuild with the same springs.
