I need any and all advice forum friends.Over the long weekend my vette sat while i did the family thing and come wednesday it turned over fine but no ignition well i tried till i killed the battery came back from work still the same turns over fine no ignition. so I just replaced my distributor cap, rotor, ignition coil, spark plugs and visually inspected the plug wires. Still turns over fine but dosent start. I dont have any extras on the car as close to stock as you can get. as a matter of fact i rebuild the engine in long island NY and drove here to California with no problems what so ever.
I consider my self some what knowledgable but i cant figure this out. could
it be im flooding it.
Thank you in advance

Have you checked to see if you're getting spark to the plugs? If not, you can take one of your old plugs, pull a plug wire boot off an installed plug, put the old plug in that boot, ground it, and have somebody turn the engine over while you watch the plug to see if it has spark. If not you know there's something wrong w/ your wiring/connections for the distributor or your distributor ( I assume HEI?) has a problem. If you have spark the problem is probably fuel delivery. Good luck.

If it is an HEI distibutor try replacing the ignition module inside the distributor. Also be sure to use the dielectric grease on the bottom of the module.
Hope this helps
Steve
Have you changed your points...that was a major problem in my ignition system that I have since pretty much replaced or rewired every part of. Change and gap your points....for the 3 or 4 bucks its worth it just incase.
If you don't feel like looking for sparks in the disconnected plug wire, just connect an inductive timing light to any plug wire and turn over the engine. If the light doesn't flash then look back toward the distributor. If it flashes but doesn't fire, look toward the fuel system. The engine only needs fuel, air and spark to fire. Using the process of elimination makes troubleshooting a little easier.
I checked and I am not getting any spark at all at the plugs. I plan on getting an ignition module for it. Do you gentelmen reccomend i try cleaning everything inside the distributor first and give it a try first to see if something just needs to be secured better.
I'd check the wiring & connections to the HEI module to make sure it's all in good shape. If you have no probs there, buying the module is your next step.
