Anyone have any experience with the aluminum radiators being sold by Entropy Technology on eBay?

I just installed one in my car. Fit was so-so. Quality is good (nothing near DeWitts quality). Made in Canada. Price is excellent. Car used to run near/over 200, now running at 170 ~ 180 (I also added a Milodon high-flow t-stat, 16" Zirgo elec. fan and an E-Bay hi-flow water pump).

My only beef was no PayPal or personal checks. Had to trudge down to the post office and buy a money order. Shipped promptly, packaged well. Highly recommend.

Hey, tnx for the info. So how much worse is it than a DeWitt's? Is it the overall finish/welds or is the material of a lesser grade? Your temp results are exactly what I'm looking for. I'm surprised that you're getting that with an electric fan. Do you have a link for the Zirgo fan? The price on that radiator is certainly lots less than the others out there!

The finish/welds are rough. Definitely a mass-produced product. I imagine if you spend a couple hours with a buffing wheel, you can make it shine. Material is aluminum. Not sure about the grades compared to others. It holds water.

Do an E-Bay search on Zirgo. You'll see a million of 'em.

If you have a Corvette, you should run a DeWitt's radiator or wait until you can afford one!

OK, I'll listen... what makes them the best if another does the same job? Is it an appearance thing, or is there something else going on besides the name & price?

Cheap is cheap. You get what you pay for. Fit, finish, engineering, and appearance of a DeWitts is beyond anything else out there. Will a cheaper one work? Probably fine for a long time. But consider that a DeWitts needs no mods, is fully-welded, and looks like the factory brass radiator.

Does DeWitts have a four row core? The more cooling mass the more consistent the temp. stays.

Aluminum radiators are usually two-row in 1"-1.5" tubes. Bigger than that (rows or tube) and you need a competition radiator for something like Nextel Cup.

Afternoon (Well it is in the UK)
I fitted one of these during the winter to my 1974 350 Auto.
When I got the old one out I found I needed a new frame too (I think that came from Ecklers), but the RAD came from Entropy.

Fit:
The top of the RAD (plate screwed to the RAD block) needed a little material taken off it (about .25 inch at each end) to let the stock clamps fit properly.

The Fan shroud also needed a little material removed since the ports were not quite at the same angle as the old brass RAD.

Since mine is an Auto, it had the oil cooler in it. The new Oil cooler element was not quite in the same position (no problem) and is a bit bigger than stock (no bad thing).

The old RAD cap didn't fit (The keyway was too small) - but a new one (local auto shop) fitted fine???

So all of these things were easily solvable...... BUT.....
The position of the drain plug on the original was under the RAD on the passenger side - however on the new one it is bottom left on the back face and hence it fouls on the chasis. Made me swear a LOT - I only found this after fitting it to the new fame and installing it (well nearly installing it).
Solution : Cut a small amount out of the chasis and replace the tap (would have been useful) with the original plug - which is shorter than the tap.

Basically then it's fine - but there is a lot of 'hand fettling'. I still have the problem that when I next want to drain the RAD I'm going to have to lossen lots of things so that I can remove the plug!!!!!!! AAArhhhhhh.

Customer Service:
Great before sales / great price / great packaging.
However when I started to ask questions about the fan shroud not quite fitting and the blasted tap thing, oh yes and the old RAD cap not fitting - the e-mails stopped.

Since all the things were easily solvable and trying to throttle somebody overseas is not always easy - I made the best of it.

If you are happy to struggle through a little bit then this RAD (performance and price) is great.

If you want EASY installation - go somewhere else.

My opinion only.

Any more questions please ask...........

Jeremy.

Hey tnx for the info! I'll have to reconsider my options. I looked what Entropy had to offer, and it's funny how little attention to detail I was paying. I'm sure I could make it work, but I'm getting a little tired of having to fab everything I replace...

I had to trim the top plate as well...total time: 2 mins.

My draincock, however, was in the correct location (lower pass. side).

I did not have to worry about fitment of the shroud as the combination aluminum rad & elec. fan made the shroud unecessary.

If you have an auto, the cooler fittings need to be changed to FIP fittings. I used translucent plastic fittings (Zytel?) from a boat. I can see the tranny fluid flowing thru 'em.

The guy only sells on E-Bay. I searched long & wide to find out his source to no avail. The only evidence on the radiator is a stamping which reads "Made In Canada"...

Yes. See my post titled "Too cool?". Running around 170 vs. 200+.

Yes it does about 5 Degrees, but I changed the thermostat at the same time (82 Deg. C - 180 Deg F) So it could be in there too.... Although once opened I guess it settles at equilibrium... so yes it is a little cooler.

Mine wasn't overheating - I changed it because of a leak between the side tank and the core it had already been recored many years ago and I didn't want to do it again.

Mine came with brass adaptors in the RAD so the existing pipes screwed right in.....
