Brake booster upgrade
I'm in the middle of the restoration of my 68 427 convertible.
Originally the car didn't have any power brakes, but since a frame off restoration was in process, I decided to upgrade the whole brake system.
New stainless steel brake lines for Power brakes were installed, ferro carbon pads, power slot rotors, etc.
Anyway, I ordered a 9 inch power booster, which fits leaving a gap of less than half an inch between the aluminium valve cover and the booster.
I have to drill 4 new holes in order to hold the new booster to the firewall, which is no problem, but I'm wondering now, did I receive a booster for a newer model and not the 68; what do you think?
Now, the next questions:
Originally with out Power Brakes, there is a shaft connected from the brake pedal guided directly and only pushing the brake pump.
On the new booster, there is a shaft with a thread comming out of the booster. Does anyone know what part number the new connecting shaft between booster and pedal has, or where I can order this part?
I couldn't find it neither at Ecklers nor Corvette Central.
Thanks
Dan
The threaded rod coming out of the booster has a clevis that threads onto it that attaches to the pedal lower than your manual rod connects. This hole in the pedal is already there as well.

Dan
A nice option is the Hydroboost setup. Hydraulic boost using PS pump pressure. http://www.hydroboost.com/ Saw on installed on '70 with a 454. Very nice, plenty of clearance.
