Default Urethane trans mount: your thoughts?

My old mount is almost toast, so this is more of a two part question.

A) Is the urethane mount worth it? Do I need to run different motor mounts too?

B) Should I use the old mount until the urethane one gets here? The old one is, well, old and I'm not sure how that would affect the car.

I've always heard that the trans mount should be equivalent stiffness to the engine mount. If the two must be different, then the trans mount should be the softer of two.

Is it worth it? Probably not, but that's what I've got! Went with poly engine mounts for less flex, so I figured I'd match the tranny mount.

I've also heard that the Energy poly tranny mount is too thick. I used a Prothane tranny mount and Energy engine mounts. No issues for me...

I thought I remember reading here awhile ago that the poly tranny mounts were not good to use b/c they were a different hieght than the stock rubber. Had something to do with the poly mount throwing the angle of tranny off and causing vibrations. Could be wrong though.

I've always wondered why people would want a poly mount in ANY location- body or engine or transmission.

These mounts are made of rubber specifically to isolate vibration. Why would anybody want to defeat that function is beyond me.

There is no 'performance upgrade' factor involved, despite what speed vision TV says.

When you order a tranny from Keisler it comes with the stock GM mount, I too don't see any reason to go away from rubber.

How about causing your bellhousing to crack. I changed my clutch last month and found 2 big ole cracks in the bellhousing (no these cracks were not just casting marks). The engine builder I got my replacement bellhousing from said the most likely cause is a worn tranny mount. I replaced my stock hollow mount with a solid rubber one for like 6 bucks.

I think I'll just run to Kragen and get one. Looks like it's in stock for ~$7.

I get the impression that urethane isn't really worth it unless going for the whole setup, so I'll stick with rubber.
