Default P/S Control Valve-original look

I need to replace the PS control valve on my 72, and all of the rebuilts require a core return. Is there any difference in the original and a rebuilt?, if so I will keep the original for down the road.

Thanks

The last one I replaced had a large steel bracket bolted to it to keep the ram hoses away from the moving parts which the original didn't have. Also, the bolts were not hex, but were 12 point. I removed the steel plate, and used my original bolts and its close enough for me. I'd keep the original if its an LT-1 too.

I just bought and installed a new valve from CC (along with all the other ps stuff). CC will buy back old valves for around $35 ,I think.

If your valve has the origional dust cover snapped over the adjusting nut, and if the cover has an X stamped on it, Keep it. Most rebuilt valves have a C, or nothing stamped on the cover! Thad

I agree, and in addition, the "X" indicates a different power assist ratio for "vettes". Also, the plate mentioned early is simple to remove.
