Default E-brake adjustment

Recently, I have tried to adjust the e-brake on my '82 vette. I have followed my corvette repair manual's instruction. I ajusted the star nuts in the rear hubs until they locked up and then released them 6 notches. I then adjusted the center equalizer until the lines were sung. I have adjusted them several times and I still can't get them to work properly when I pull the ratchet from inside the car. Any advice!

The E-Brakes on our cars suck!!

Having said that, you MUST release ALL tension from the cables (under the car - just follow the cables from the wheels toward the Handle and you will run into the cable adjuster) BEFORE you adjust the star adjusters. Then adjust the cable.
