Tony, this is assuming that the heads on your engine are the originals...ok? The L48 came with cast iron heads. The valves were 1.94 int. / 1.50 exh. The open combustion chamber design displaces 75.47cc. They will have a tapered spark plug seat, and a double heat riser passage. I do not know what the intake runner size is...sorry.

Probably the last three digits of your casting number is "882". Intake port volume is 160CC's, exhaust port volume is 60CC's. These heads are made of thinner castings and are prone to cracking as well. Not considered a performance head.

wow that really sucks, but i have an engine that i built about four years ago thats just sitting on the engine stand. i was wondering if anyone has ever let a brand new engine sit that long? i have never started it. do you think it would be worth anything. i ask because it is 2500 miles away from me right now so i cant go out and look at it. i was thinking of having it shiped to me.

Silver76, you rebuilt it and are the only one who knows what is inside. As far as storage it depends on how it was stored. Were there plugs in the head? Was the internal parts well lubed on assembly? Was it stored inside a heated building? Things like the above will affect how well the engines fairs storage. If yes to the above, you should not have any problem firing it. I had a basically stock rebuilt 350 stored longer and it fired right up. The only question I have is on the valve springs setting so long under pressure and not moving, especially with a high lift cam. In my case I had released pressure on all springs before storage and relashed before startup. Springs are easy enough to change, though. Good luck!

hey thanks, It didnt have plugs but everything was taped off to keep it clean. it was very well lubed on assembley. i plan on taking out the cam and taking off the oil pan and checking out the crank and everything when i get to it. but i hop ethere is no rust on the cam and heads. the external is freashly painted so i dont think i will have any problems there. now about the heated building. no its in a building with out heat. and its in colorado so it will have gotten cold a few times. do you think that is going to cause any bad problems? the springs are double springs and were not unloaded. i have been reading that you should not break in an engine with those springs so i am goingot take them off any way and pu tthe stock ones on for the break in. do you think i will need to get new ones? the cam is a comp xtreme energy 268 duration. thanks for all the help already
