I have read every thread dealing with this problem and have checked everything (I have a 71'). When I turn a corner the steering wheel won't return. The caster is at +3 degrees. Pump, valves, hoses and cylinder are new (not rebuilt). All linkage and suspension parts are new. There doesn't seem to be much boost (much less than my old 78'). I have adjusted the steering valve numerous times. With the wheels off the ground things turn easy (no binding). Could there be some kind of restriction slowing fluid back to the pump? Any help would be appreciated.
When I turn a corner, the wheel will not come back...I have to manually turn it back. I just accepted that back in '71 the power steering on a vette was designed to be a little tight.
I think I'll check to make sure that steering box adjuster isn't too tight. Maybe there's air in the system???
My car has 235 R15 65 tires that are not wearing funny so I'm now assuming there's something wrong with the power steering assist.
