It sounds like your balancer hub has slipped. A very common problem. Take a look at this one that came off my 454 and notice where the timing marks are in comparison to each other:
Notice that the good hub on the right has the timing mark centered on the crank pulley bolt hole, while the one on the left (my original) is significantly off from that mark. You need to bring the engine to TDC (top dead center) and verify that the timing mark is lining up. If it is, then your problem is not the hub.
