Awhile back, I posted about my oil pump going out for a second time in 3 months. At least that's what we thought it was. I gave it back to my motor man, and he got a couple of respectable people to look at it with him. They discovered that before I rebuilt my engine last summer, whoever had it before me had the engine rebuilt. They had the cylinders rebored and whoever did it screwed it up. The oil wouldn't get to everything in the motor which made it holler. We just bored it .020 over and didn't really check all that. But this last time, my pump didn't go out; the oil just wasn't getting to everything. We found another block for $75. We've put a lot of the stuff out of the old motor in this one. But some stuff is gonna get changed. But that's how the story goes.
Found out the hard way once that welding or brazing the pickup to the oil pump hurt the pressure relief spring due to the heat. It needs to be removed first. FWIW...

Oops. I welded my pickup but I just tacked it in 2 places. Hopefully I did not hurt it. Been that way for over 5 years now though. Must have gotten lucky.
I'm not exactly sure what was happening inside. I just know that whenever it was rebuilt awhile back that they apparently didn't know how to rebore everything. My motor man and I have been trying to figure this out for awhile.
