Default rocker panel removal

I need to take off my rocker panels on a 82 corvette for polishing.
I can see 4 screws to take out are there any other fasteners to remove or are the screws all I need to remove ?

Default That's it.

Pull all visible screws(same on each side) the center ones could be a PITA depending on the amt of corrosion your frame has been subjected to. Then pull. I had to drill several of mine out. They had rusted solid. Best of luck.

There are no hidden clips or anything of that nature. Once the screws are out the rocker panel covers are free. It's been a couple of years since I took mine off but I seem to remember one screw at the front wasn't visible from the outside. You have to look under the rocker panel to see it.

Default How are you cleaning them?

JHARLEN,

How are you going to clean your rocker panels? I had to drill out the heads on most of my screws this weekend to get my rocker panels off. I then used a rotary tool with a cutoff wheel to remove the remaining rusted shafts. I'm going to drill holes and use body clips to refasten.

My rocker panels have a clear coating that's pretty fogged up. Is there a way to clean this up easily or do I have to remove the coating, polish and then use some sort of clear coat?

Thanks. - Chris

If your rocker panel mounting screw are frozen, you need this kit. Just torque the screw heads enough so they just twist and snap off. Then, you will need to drill out the screw hole to 3/8ths to insert the brass threaded sleeve. It works great, looks good and saves effort.

It sells at Ecklers and others for $29 and makes that job easier and with better looking result.

I am having them done by a metal polishing shop in N.C.
They say they will look like chrome and not tarnish.
