My '74 is leaking power steering fluid from somwhere between the master cylinder and the left front wheel. I think it is a hose but I'm not sure. How much would a new ps hose be and how hard are they to install?
Are you leaking from a brake line or a power steering line. By what you described it sounds like a brake line and if its the hose part those are cheap and realitively easy, you just have to bleed the brakes afterwards.
I not sure, maybe both. The car was low on brake fluid last week in the back part of the master cylinder. The brakes were a little spongey too. I filled the master cylinder up and has been fine since. I don't have the car here, but I will either tomorrow night maybe or definately on Saturday. I'll have to look then. I'm gonna have the mechanic look at the lbrakes next time it's in for an oil change. I do know the power steering is leaking for sure. I had to refill the PS twice in the last year. How much would a ps hose be? Are they easy to install?
Rear wheels huh? I hope not cause I had those two calipers replaced 2 years and about 2,000 miles ago with new SS ones. The I think one of the front ones was replaced in '99 and the other one may be the original but I'm not sure one that. I wouldn't be suprised if one of the front ones was leakin. Also, the car had a new master cylinder put in in '99. I don't think it's the back ones cause it is leakin in the front, to the left of the oil pan.
It sounds like it could be the power steering...it's possible that the leak is blowing back a little.
If I recall correctly, the hoses are $30 or $40 dollars. I replaced all four of mine last year along with the control valve. The hoses are fairly easy to replace...the control valve is a little more difficult.
