Default Temp Sending Unit

Hey guys I just got my short block back from the engine rebuilder and I also got a set of fresh heads and I am getting ready to assemble the heads to the block. The car was originally a 1977 L-48 and I am trying to figure out which side of the engine that the head with the hole for the temperature sending unit goes on. I honestly have no idea because I bought the car as a fixer-upper with no engine and I bought everything pieces from the machine shop. Need help soon. Thanks

On my 77 it is located on the driver's side head.

Almost all small block Chevy engines have the temp sending unit on the drivers side between #1 and #3 cylinders. Look for a green wire with a single female plug to hook to it.
