Default Rear leaf sprung bent straight??

I put on a new rear leaf spring about 4 years ago when I re-did the whole rear suspension... However, it is now almost straight on the passenger side, whereas the driver's side still has a nice arch.. Is this possible from the torquing of the motor?? Its the only thing that I think would cause one side to go bad.. Which would be a good replacement that can withstand the torquing??
Thanks in advance...
Chris

I have my original 7 leaf still in....78 and have owned it 25 years...it still has arch and my height (rear) has not changed over 1/4" even after installing new bushings..So either that spring has lost some temper or it needs adjustment, new bushing or something...
Good luck

I have the original spring still in my '79 and still holds the car at the correct height. I would be very scared of that spring. If it has lost its arch on one side it could be getting ready to let go from premature metal fatigue; probably from a defective spring from manufacture. I would replace it before it lets go and causes some serious damage or worse. I don't mean to scare you, but I feel you have a very unsafe situation on your hands.

how close to your spring is your exhaust? I wonder if heat could "de-arch" the spring? Before my spring broke my exhaust was actually touching it.....

Our springs can be rearched. A spring shop could put the main leaf through the rollers and rearch it. They then re assemble the spring using the plastic strips. Works like new.
