Finally got everything working right and I'm truly amazed at it. Nothing like cruising down the highway at 2200rpm.
I will say it does take some getting used to, because I went to a 2200rpm stall TC and the trans is built up for whatever future engine I decide to drop in so it shifts pretty firm.
Next up: fixing the coolant leak and opening up the exhaust
What speed was that 2,200RPM at? My 700R4 turns 2,000 RPM at 60MPH and 2,500 at 75MPH. Which is a LOT better than the 3,000 RPM at 60MPH it used to do
I don't think I have the right speedo gears, because I made it from Orange County to SF bay area in 6.5 hrs and it didn't ever say I went faster than 70mph
I'm guessing 2200rpm is around 80mph. According to BTO's speedo calculator, that's about what I shoud be running for 3.08 gears.

Yup, that right, I run 2500 rpm at 80, with 336 gears.... I know the speedo is right, via the radar signs, I know the tach is off maybe 50 rpm according to the computer....
That has to be the best mod I have made on my 73. I am running 3.55 gears and my MPG went from 11 to 17 on long trips. The increase in fast starts 0-60 is a big plus over the TH400.
Welcome to the club. Wait till you figure out how much your MPG goes up. At these prices for gas it really will get you saying"Hell Yeah"!

I know what you mean. Just made a trip from SoCal to Norcal and previously on a tank of gas I'd be lucky to get 150 miles. Now, it's well over 200 miles on 3/4 tank.
