Before I dive head first in to my q-jet book I figured I'd just go ahead and get a quick reference from you guys on how I go about doing this. From what I've been told it's remove 4 screws and gently take it out and put the new one in. Anyone care to elaborate on the procedure for me?
If this is a Q-jet accelerator pump you're changing there are 9 screws and 2 bolts you need to take out. You have to take the top of the carburetor off.
Then there's the choke rod as well as the bolts/screws. It's not a hard job but you have to be patient and understand what all is connected or holding the top plate to the body. There are two flush screws in the primary venturi that most who don't have familiarity with Q-Jets miss in the disassembly.
I'd take the carb off the manifold and do this on a bench if its your first time.
You dont want to drop anything down into the nether-regions of the engine.
Ok got the new pump installed. Found the pcv valve was leaking vaccume so we patched that up, which helped a lot. Still have a small hesitation when you let off the pedal completely then punch it. Sound like a timing issue?
