changing tach cable for 72
Don't: use the 90 degree adaptor ... instead rotate distributor
per GM service bulletin. Move distributor clockwise by 1 wire
location and move all wire terminals back one location (CCwise).
Even though I don't have one, I learned a lot about these at our
Tuning for Beer event. Thanks Lars. The 90degree adaptor puts
extra torque on the drive gear. This pushes the drive gear to
wear into the distributor housing. Once the gear teeth contact - it
locks up and twists the cable up. Replacing the cable will not
cure this problem - if you have it. So, make sure things are in
order or you will be twisting another cable soon.

My contribution:
Take the gauge housing loose. The extra 3" behind there is amazing helpful. I've R+R'd both cables three times now and this is the best time-saver I can offer. Oh, grease the cable while it's out.
