Default Stub Stick Out

Well i installed the stubs in my diff cleaned the grey scale off them and noticed the one thats 6 5/8 or shorter side stub sticks out of the seal about 1/8 to 3/16 from dust sheild to seal where as the other stub 7.5 sticks out about 1/16 from dust sheild to seal is this the way its suppost to be? my snap rings are installed the way they are suppost to be ? ive got two remaned 6 5/8 stubs and tried both and they are both the same.will this throw off the distance from side to side on my t arms ? or will my seal leak with the stub sticking out like that.

I am no expert here but I have had my diff apart a few times to change the gears. If my understanding of the rear is correct you will be fine with yours the way it is. In order to get the gears set up correctly you may have to move the ring gear to the left or right to get proper contact with the pinion gear. When you do this it will cause you to have one stub slightly out or in farther than the other. When you move that ring gear you move the whole diff assembly in side the housing. If it was my car I would leave it be. i don't know of anything you can do other than trying to re-setup the gears. There is no gaurantee that that will change it either. Like I said i am no expert. I don't think a 1/16in will make a difference. Hopefully some one here will chime in and verify all this. Good luck.
